LG Optimus L5 Review : Specs, Advantages and Disadvantages

The Dual-SIM smartphone would allows two GSM SIM cards, and the connectivity options are all the basic ones included, like the 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth and aGPS while the device has got a dedicated SIM switch key for the easy network and SIM toggling. The L Series II devices was recently launched, at the Mobile World Congress 2013 event in Barcelona, and the phone has got a Quick Button that lets you personalize a hotkey to launch any app and QuickMemo to jot notes quickly.

The battery capacity is pretty moderate, with the 1700 mAh capacity and the operating system included in the device is the latest one, i.e. the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system. The multitasking is supported by 512MB of RAM, and there is 4GB of internal storage, while the same is expandable to 32GB using the MicroSD card.

Specs of LG Optimus L5 :

  • Screen: 4-inch capacitive touch screen IPS display
  • Screen resolution: 480 x 800 pixels
  • Processor: 1 GHz processor
  • RAM: 512MB
  • OS: Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean)
  • Dual SIM (GSM + GSM) with a dedicated SIM switch key
  • Rear Camera: 5 MP camera with LED Flash
  • RAM: 512MB
  • Storage: 4GB of internal memory, expandable memory up to 32 GB with microSD
  • Connectivity: 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth, aGPS
  • Battery: 1700 mAh battery
Advantages of LG Optimus L5 :
  • Thin form factor:
At 9.6 millimeters, it is thinner than the average bar phone

Disadvantages of LG Optimus L5 :
  • Disappointing display specs:

We're glad the LG Optimus L5 has a 4-inch screen, but 320 x 480 pixels equals to only 144.14 dots per inch (DPI) -- in comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S II's screen boasts 218 dots per inch.

  • Unknown SAR rating:

We were unable to get this phone's radiation level. Therefore, we can't determine how close it is to the limit.

  • Just a TFT?:

TFT displays are ok (they used to be the best option), but in such a high-end phone, we prefer AMOLED, or even SuperAMOLED displays, known for their brightness in sunlight, richer contrast and lower energy consumption.
  • Unknown weight:
It's frustrating that we could not find its weight information.

  • Touch screen is only a capacitive:

A large touch screen is nice, but we are not extremely impressed that it is just a capacitive model. Of course, capacitive screens are okay, but according to Wikipedia and many other expert sources, resistive touch screens are much better.
